Collins Shanghai Maths Project

I would like to take this opportunity, to introduce our new method of teaching mathematics. The new national curriculum introduced content at a much higher level than the previous syllabus. After almost twelve months of research and visiting successful schools, we finally decided to purchase the Collins Shanghai Mathematics Project scheme. The scheme is based on the highly successful methodology used in Singapore and Shanghai. The scheme guides children to learn each topic in depth. While all our teachers are trained to teach mathematics, we are investing in specialist training for a group of teachers so that they become experts in teaching mathematics at this higher level.

The scheme is at a very challenging level and there is extra maths planned to plug gaps, especially in KS2. Year 6 children are not following the scheme completely.

If you would like to find out more about the Shanghai scheme, please Google "Collins Shanghai Maths Project" where you will find lots of useful information and ways to help your child at home. The link is provided below.

We have also introduced Timestable Rockstars. Being fluent in knowing times-tables is vital to understanding mathematics easily so we would like home-learning to focus on practising times tables until they are instantly recalled. Please see the link below for more information.

(Jan 2021) More recently, we have been developing our maths knowledge organisers.  These are available for parents and children to use as an aid when understanding the key mathematical knowledge and skills which are explored in each year group.
