PSHE, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Review 2023

From September 2020, it is a statutory requirement that all primary schools in England and Wales are teaching Relationship Education as a fundamental part of the curriculum. We are required to review this policy biannually.

As part of reviewing the RSE curriculum, schools must consult with the children, parents, staff and governors to ensure there is a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content. 

Brook Primary School will be starting their parental consultation process on Monday 13th February- Friday 3rd March 2023.

As part of this, parents, staff and governors, will be asked to read through the following document and make comments on it. The policy that you are asked to read as part of the consultation will be: 

On Wednesday 1st March we held a parent consultation about the RSE Policy amendments. During the consultation we discussed the policy amendments and any concerns raised by the parents via the questionnaire. During the session, parents were also given the opportunity to discuss any other questions/ concerns. On the below Powerpoint, you will find the slides shown and some of our next steps which were highlighted from the meeting. Following this, Mrs Taylor will meet with a group of pupils (School Council, Year 5 and Year 6) to discuss the RSE Curriculum and gain a pupil voice.
